In the light-hearted, summer atmosphere of Paris, Paul (Thomas Dutronc), a bookish and shy student from the provinces, in Paris to enrol in Political Science, reads on a bench in the Luxembourg Gardens.
One afternoon, as he shyly follows a young woman who has caught his eyes for the last few days, he meets Fab (Saïd Taghmaoui), a headstrong and efficient guy who introduces him to the art of the pick-up.
Entrusting his apprenticeship each evening to his diary, Paul gets caught up in dubious acts on the verge of delinquency before distancing himself from his mentor to return to his studies, betraying in passing the person who has shared his know-how and friendship with him.

Raconté sur le ton de l'ironie perverse par un apprenti dragueur repenti, "Confession d'un dragueur" met en scène, à travers la drague et les femmes, la collision de deux mondes :- celui d'un étudiant timide, livresque et passablement lâche, mais destiné à trouver sa place en haut de l'échelle sociale;
- et celui d'un déclassé fonceur dont le dynamisme cynique cache, au delà de l'apparente misogynie, une vision sociale lucide et désespérée.
Imaginez aujourd'hui le fanfaron de Dino Risi s'acoquinant avec le successeur Jean-Louis Trintignant. Lequel, de l'innocent ou du roublard, finira cette fois au fond du fossé.
