THE ARTISTS DURING THE MITTERRAND ERA
A film by Yves Riou and Philippe Pouchain 2016

The election of François Mitterrand in 1981 represent a major improvement for the artists in France. Associated with the victory, pampered by the new government, they are numerous to follow the « pink » wave. Cultural fundings and appointments are pouring, and creation is glowing everywhere. And few are the ones biting the hand that feed them, flatter them, and sometimes exploit them.

Along with exceptionnal archives and interviews, this documentary is looking back on the blazing years where, between idolatry and disappointments, culture became a stately affair.
