Price “ART CINEMA AWARD” for THE SLEEPING BEAUTY

The CICAE is glad to announce that the CICAE prize "ART CINEMA AWARD" has been awarded to The Sleeping Beauty by Catherine Breillat.

Jury’s word:
La Belle endormie by Catherine Breillat is for the European cinemas the most interesting film among the selected for the Orizzonti competition.

Catherine Breillat has found  poetic pictures in the traditional tale of Charles Perrault for an innovative way to describe the growing up  of a girl from the childhood to the being adult. She uses a universal language understandable and very close to the sensibility of European people. So she is able to offer a delicate insight of this human experience, from a feminine point of view.



The film is built by a solid narrative structure and an appropriate use of the filmic language and could encounter the appreciation of the European audience.
